Hotel life

I had a wonderful night. Dinner was fab and the company was even better! My dessert was like heaven on a plate: white chocolate mousse with raspberry sauce. Delicious!

After dinner we went to happy hour in Soho, drag queen karaoke in the Lellebel, beer in d'Oude Herbergh and we ended the night in club Cockring. It's Matt's first time outside the US and I'm pretty sure he's seen just about every aspect of gay Amsterdam in these two days.

I'm already making plans to go and visit them in October. If I can find a reasonably priced plane ticket, that is.

Right now I'm recovering at my mum's place. Having a wine and watching movies. Nice and relaxed.

Also, little update: my bike didn't get stolen! I just kindasorta misplaced it, due to being very very drunk...

Starting work early sucks, but it doesn mean finishing at noon, so I'll have the entire rest of the day off. I'm about to go over to Ron and Matt's hotel, see if they're there (damn Ron for turning his phone off when I'm trying to arrange dinner!) and maybe spend some time with them.

After that it's off to Diederik and Sebastian. Going to drink wine in their garden. After that, who knows! I'm free all day!

Also, I've been wearing my cargo shorts two days in a row. Last time I wore shorts in Holland was probably last century. My legs still look like milk bottles, but there's only one way to fix it!

I had the weirdest dream last night. I don't remember much of the details, but it involved Ron, whose underwear I had stolen (?), my mum, Mark and some guy that called himself Fred Flinstone (which I'm guessing was supposed to be a drug induced inside joke that I didn't get).

All good ingredients for some very funny and/or hilarious slapstick, if it weren't for the fact that I woke up at three in the morning bathing in my own sweat. I was so distressed for some reason that I had to get out of bed for a while and went for a smoke on my balcony. After that I went back to bed and slept a nice dreamless sleep.

Damn that was freaky.

So I nixed the Gamecube idea. It's hard to focus on something when it keeps reminding you of the one thing you don't want to think about.
Also, there's nothing on tv. Comedy Central is having a bloody That 70's Show marathon!
I think I'll just go read a book. I'm not going out tonight, though. I'm being a good boy and staying in.

One positive sidenote of having drunk so very, very much last night is that for the first time this week I didn't wake up around eight, wide awake for some bizarre reason...

Much like life, a hangover tends to go all the way downhill before it gets better. I think I passed the lowest point now and I'm slowly starting to feel better. I even had some soup! Good thing I'm working today, and not doing anything constructive.

Speaking of work, I got sort of promoted. With extra pay! It's only for a couple of hours a week, and I'll still be doing some phone work, but it's nice to not be on the phone constantly.

Tonight I'm going to have a quiet night at home. No alcohol, no partying, no nothing. Just me and my Gamecube. It's been a pretty long week and I've spent most of it drunk. I guess I can't keep escaping into alcoholism. Besides, it's not like it helps me take my mind off of things anyway. So tonight is all about the calm. Stefanie's not there, so I'll have the house to myself.

Oh, and I'm going away on vacation next month!

I was going to have a date tonight with this guy named Mario.

Him and me were going to eat some shrooms and then save some princess from this big ugly lizard king dude.

But no, of course I get invited to happy hour. Everybody knows I can't resist the temptation of two alcoholic beverages for the price of one. Therefore I felt forced to reschedule the date to some other night.

I guess Mario could always call his brother Luigi to come and help him.

The weather was beautiful yesterday, so Wim, Victoria and me decided to enjoy it best as we can. We took the boat to Noord, where we had a bottle of prosecco and some snacks on the Wilhelmina Dok (hidden treasure, much?!).
After staying there in the sun by the water for a while, we decided to take the boat back and take another boat to the NDSM-werf, where I showed them the submarine and we booed at the Greenpeace ship (bunch of friggin hippies!). We proceeded to the IJ-kantine, where we had more wine (but only because I forgot that I actually wanted to order beer...) and food.
After sitting there for some time, we went to Wim's place where Victoria made a delicious lasagna with spinach and gorgonzola which we ate in the garden, accompanied by a nice cold bottle of Cava. I made dessert, a yummy nostalgic banana pudding.

After some more bottles of wine and some really loud music we decided to take our business elsewhere and continue the day in town. Where I finally had my cold beer(s)!

I even got a bit of a tan! All in all, it was a beautiful day...
